Introduction to the CFS Windows Help File

The Windows Help file provides access to all CFS, JES, JESG and TAS documentation, including the CFS manuals for system administrators, procedure descriptions from CFS.USERLIB.BEISPIEL, and administration interfaces.

Please note the following general remarks. The help screen is divided into three areas:

The menu items of "File" "Edit" ...

are standard Windows items, and do not require further explanation here..

Buttons on the tool bar include "Contents" "Search" "Back" ....

The rest of the display contains the body of the text. The user can click on the graphic symbols in this area, or where the pointer changes to a hand symbol when moving over the text, or in screen representations. Doing so will activate the hyperlink embedded in the text. Clicking on the "Back" button (see below) allows the user to step back through the hyperlink chain.

Buttons:

Contents Clicking on this button will display the main menu, exactly as it does in the CFS Online Help. This menu will also be displayed when first starting the Windows Help file.

Search This button will display the keyword list, similar to the printed manual index. Entering a letter or word will restrict the index display.

Back Clicking on this button takes the user back to the previous screen. "Back" can be clicked as often as required, and will eventually take the user right back to the openeing screen.

Print The text of the item or chapter being displayed will be printed.

When entering the Windows Help file, the items will be displayed as in the CFS Online Help system. In particular, only the help text for the command or item clicked will be displayed. If the relevant text is short, it will appear as a popup window. Longer text will be displayed in a full screen. Clicking on the "Back" button will return the user to the previous screen.

The Help file is structured identically to the CFS Onlife Help system. The opening screen is the main menu of the help system. Clicking on individual menu items will display the next lower level of the structure.

Manual The "Manual" button will display a table of contents similar to that in the printed manual. Clicking on items such as, for example, '7 Commands' will display the sub-menu relating to that chapter. Clicking on an index entry such as, for example, 'DATE Output in Date form' will display the respective page from the manual as asynchronous text. This means that the user can page forwards or backwards to the preceding or succeeding command at will.

Masks An overview of all CFS screens will be displayed. Clicking on an entry will display the screen in its original format. Moving the mouse over the screen will cause the pointer to change to a hand symbol at various areas, indicating the existence of a hyperlink. Clicking at this stage will display the input options for the respective field, or a description of the layout of the list, for example, the file list.

User Option, Var. Action, Commands, Action Code

A menu with all available entries for the User Option, Variable Action, Command and Action Code fields will be displayed.

>> / << Jump to the next or previous item of information.

Example: the Help text relating to the Command A (execute Variable Actions) will be displayed by clicking on the "Command" button. Clicking on the >> button will display the information relating to ADD command, and clicking on << will display the information relating to /cmd (execute a BS2000 command).

If the manual contents are being displayed (e.g. "Manual Contents", "7 Commands", "A Execute Variable Action"), clicking on >> will display the beginning of the next chapter (8. CFS Display/Editor)
