Installation of the TAR archive on Unix platforms

    The installation of CFS / EDT for UNIX should be processed in the following steps:

  1. Login under root

  2. Create any installation directory: mkdir cfsin

  3. Change to the installation directory: cd cfsin

  4. Transfer the downloaded TAR file to cfsin (with DOSCOPY, FT or NFS)

  5. Copy the license files cfs.dat and cfs2.dat to cfsin (with DOSCOPY, FT or NFS). If the installation is an Update installation, just install into the same directory or take the files cfs.dat and cfs2.dat from /opt/cfs.

  6. Read the files from TAR archive: i.e. tar -xvof /cfsin/sinix_rm.tar

  7. Start the installation script: ./cfsinstall

  8. The installation directory can be deleted after successfull installation

The program CFS for Unix is started by shell command input: cfs
The program EDT for Unix is started by shell command input: edt or edt file

For context sensitive help use the F1 key or HELP.

Special remarks on Telnet connections:

When a Telnet connection is used, CFS may be started with cfs.telnet and EDT with edt.telnet. In Telnet connections only a VT100 emulation is possible, i.e. the keys F5-F12, Insrt, Del, Home, End, PgUp and PgDown are not supported.
The parameter file /var/cfs/cfs.par.telnet includes the following settings:
F1 = Help
F2 = Unprotect All Data in EDT
F3 = next hit after ON&FIND....
F4 = Change between Insert and Overwrite mode
^5 = Command memory
The Telnet internal options "VT100-Arrow-Keys" and Emulation "VT100/ANSI" must be activated.
